Preserve the relevant conversation, identify the speaker, connect payment records to the obligation and prepare an intelligible translation. Screenshots may assist a civil claim, but lawfulness, authenticity, context and weight need separate assessment.
Enforcing an award rendered outside Georgia involves a specific court route, the appropriate documents and required certified Georgian translations. Article 44 designates the Supreme Court; Article 45 identifies specific refusal grounds. Check the debtor’s identity and Georgian assets in parallel. Recognition, commencement of execution and actual payment should not be treated as one guaranteed outcome.
An appeal is not a simple rerun of the first-instance case. It must connect the challenged part, legal or factual error, deadline, admissible material and requested result. The general civil appeal period is 14 days from service of the reasoned judgment; a criminal judgment is generally appealed within one month after announcement; and an administrative complaint is generally due within one month after publication or official notice, subject to special statutory rules.
Georgia has no single mandatory tariff for private lawyers: remuneration and its calculation method are agreed between lawyer and client and should be clear in advance. A total budget may include advice, drafting, representation, court fees, experts, translation, notary, travel and enforcement. Compare not only a number, but the exact scope, responsible team, stages and approval mechanism for additional work.
A compensation claim needs a legal basis for liability, breach, actual loss, causation and, where required, fault. Article 992 of the Civil Code requires a person who unlawfully and intentionally or negligently causes damage to compensate the injured party. Monetary compensation for non-property damage is available only in cases specifically prescribed by law and must be reasonable and fair.
A medical-injury case starts with patient safety and preserving the complete medical file. The analysis then separates informed consent, standard of care, causation, damage, insurance or mediation and evidence usable in proceedings.
Preparing a claim starts not with the form but with the exact remedy, correct defendant, factual basis, court competence and enforcement prospects; misclassification can damage timing and protection.
The applicable limitation period and its start depend on the claim and facts, while evidence degrades over time; the conclusion must be drawn from the current rule and a precise chronology.
Contractual performance, damages and unjust enrichment have different elements and calculations; one event may support alternative claims, but double recovery is not available.
Winning a debt claim and actually receiving money are different stages; contract, acknowledgment, security, debtor assets and enforcement cost should be mapped before proceedings. The Enforcement Proceedings Law page lists amendments through 17 December 2025 but also warns that its consolidation is being updated.
A foreign judgment is not automatically enforceable in Georgia: recognition of a legally effective decision can be blocked by defective notice, jurisdiction, parallel proceedings or conflict with Georgia's basic legal principles, and an enforcement petition needs certified translation and proof of finality.
Mediation is voluntary and confidential, but a final written settlement may be enforced by court; the Supreme Court handles recognition and enforcement of international settlements, and private mediation can suspend limitation for up to two years.
Appeal and cassation are not unrestricted retrials; the appeal period is 14 days from service of the reasoned judgment and the cassation period is 21 days, while the challenged part, error, admissibility and relief must be formulated precisely.
Interim relief requires evidence of the claim, urgency, proportionality and enforcement risk; proper service on a foreign party and consequences of non-appearance need separate review.
Debt recovery depends on basis, limitation, debtor identity, payment evidence and enforceable assets.
