According to Imedi's notice of 8 October 2026, traffic on km12–km72 of the Pshaveli–Abano–Omalo road, on the Lechuri–Omalo section, was restored only for high-clearance vehicles with two or more drive axles. The prohibition remained for other vehicles, while km1–km11 was clear. This describes the regime for that day and is not an automatic guarantee for travel on 10 October or later.

Why might traffic be restricted?

Article 13 of the Law on Road Traffic provides for restrictions due to natural phenomena and road conditions to protect safety, life, health, and property. Access to a specific section may depend on the technical capabilities of the vehicle. The general heading of 'road opening' does not imply permission for all vehicles.

Driving experience cannot change the required vehicle category. Nor is it sufficient to retain an old notice if the road was later closed due to weather or damage. Before travelling, the latest information from the Roads Department and current road instructions must be checked.

What should the service provider tell the passenger?

Article 5 of the Law on Protection of Consumer Rights requires the provision of important service conditions in an understandable manner. The passenger must know in advance what vehicle, what route, and what restrictions apply to the journey. Inability to travel safely is assessed by the booking conditions and actual circumstances, for alternative arrangements or cancellation.

Is the paid amount automatically refunded?

Article 18 of the Law defines rights related to non-performance and defects in service. The specific outcome depends on the timing of the service, the promise made, the possibility of performance, and the agreement. Not every road restriction gives rise to the same compensation, nor does a general 'weather' clause resolve all disputes.

It is useful to retain the booking, correspondence, and official notice of the restriction at that moment. The existing report allows us to explain the regime for a specific time; live travel advice requires new road and weather data.
