Canada’s October 26 PNP round issues 792 invitations: what the 761 cutoff actually means

Round 451 targeted provincial nominees. The cutoff and tie-break describe this round only; an invitation still requires a complete and accurate permanent-residence application.

The official result

IRCC’s rounds of invitations record identifies round 451 on 26 October 2026 as a Provincial Nominee Program round. It issued 792 invitations with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 761. The recorded round time was 10:38:23 UTC, with a tie-break of 3 April 2026 at 18:00:26 UTC.

These figures are also present in the official data used by IRCC’s page. The tie-break matters to candidates sharing the lowest invited score. A score at the threshold must be assessed with the relevant profile timing and eligibility, rather than read as an unconditional entitlement.

A targeted round is not an invitation to every candidate

This was a PNP round. A person in the general Express Entry pool cannot infer selection solely from comparing a score with 761. The round type, provincial nomination and profile information need to be considered together. Other rounds may use different programs or categories.

A hypothetical candidate with a provincial nomination should check that the nomination and Express Entry profile are properly linked and that the invitation actually appears in the official account. A screenshot of a news headline or an unsolicited message from an intermediary is not proof of an invitation.

Audit the evidence behind the profile

After an invitation, the task changes from maintaining a profile to substantiating the application. Compare employment dates, education, language results and family information with the submitted answers. Identify discrepancies early and determine how they affect eligibility and the score rather than silently changing an inconvenient detail.

Keep the invitation, profile history and nomination documents together. If a job, family circumstance or document validity has changed, assess the consequences before submitting. The invitation does not certify that every claim in the profile has already been accepted as true.

Keep this result separate from the November reform

IRCC has announced a later change to ranking calculations. Our existing analysis of the November reform addresses that transition. This October 26 result should not be recalculated using assumptions about a future round, and it does not predict when or at what score the next invitation will occur.

Protect current status while applying

An invitation to apply for permanent residence is not itself a work permit or an extension of temporary status. Someone already in Canada should separately track the conditions and expiry of their current permission. Someone abroad should plan travel on the permission they actually hold, while following the deadline and document instructions in the invitation.
